MSc Sustainable Planning
Our modular planning courses are taught by leading practitioners and academic staff from the University of Hertfordshire

We now run a series of short courses in planning at Master's level that can if you wish count towards our new Master's degree in Sustainable Planning.
The Government’s planning reforms represent a significant challenge. Our programme of courses will help you gain the information and skills you need for your organisation to thrive in the new localism system. Effectively engaging with local communities has become even more important. Specialisms such as urban design and transport are also impacted by the new planning legislation and retain their vital role in delivering sustainable development. Sustainability and community involvement are key themes for our new courses.
Our courses are taught jointly by leading practitioners and staff from the new planning programme at the University of Hertfordshire. They are practical and interactive with exercises and workshops as well as presentations. You also have the option of completing a written assignment following the course if you wish to acquire University credits. These credits can later be used towards a higher qualification such as one of our MScs.
Who are our courses for? The courses are particularly aimed at planning, regeneration, housing and environmental professionals working in the public and private sector. Some courses can also be taken by graduates from related disciplines thinking of making a career change into planning. Use them to:
  • Update your skills
  • Move to a new specialism such as transport
  • Develop your career
