The Division
of Geography
and Environmental Sciences
in the School of Life Sciences has special interests in the following:
- Urban placemaking within the planning process to help create sustainable communities
- Delivering transport planning advice to SMEs and larger
organizations
- Social and cultural demography – planning and policy for changing
population dynamics
- Advancing the Charrette as the tool for public participation in planning and design processes
Geographical Information Systems (GIS) analysis has been performed
in support of sustainable communities. Sustainable transport planning
has been done with groups such as UNO, Eisai and Manor Lodge School
as part of their green travel planning process. The group has assisted
Stanborough Park in securing the green flag
award scheme (good quality urban green space being an important part of
the government's urban renaissance agenda).
