UNO to take over 797 Greenline from 2 March 2015
The University of Hertfordshire’s Uno Bus company will run the 797 bus from Monday 2 March. The route, which currently runs between Stevenage and London Victoria through Hatfield, has been run by Arriva Greenline until now. This decision will come as a welcome move to passengers who rely on the service especially those students and staff of the University who use the service to reach the Hatfield campus from London.
The service will run between Hatfield and London and the same weekday timetable and fare structure that Arriva operated will be in place from the beginning to the end of March, however, there will be no weekend services. Tickets can still be purchased on the bus, on mobile smart phones, as well as from Arriva Greenline outlets.
Uno will then begin a new revised service from 1 April, which will include a revised weekday timetable.
Beneficial to the Local Community
James Thorpe, managing director of Uno Buses Ltd, said: “We are very pleased that UNO buses will be taking on the 797 bus service. We will be trialing the revised timetable from April and monitoring the use of the service over the following year to ensure it is financially viable in the long term. We hope it will prove beneficial to the local community.”
Local services from Stevenage
Local residents will still be able to commute to and from Stevenage and Hatfield. Uno's 635 service runs between Hatfield and Baldock through Stevenage and the 625 service runs between Hatfield and Letchworth through Stevenage.
